Terry Gregoraschuk (Canada, 1958)

After attending the Alberta College of Art and Design Terry worked in the commercial art field as an illuminated sign designer then as Art Director for Western Living Magazine
(Calgary Branch). During this time he also created fine art paintings in hopes of one day painting on a full-time basis. His dream came true when in 1986 Terry had built up a following and decided to leave the commercial arts field and pursue painting full time. Since that time he has developed a reputation for supplying unique works of art in a multitude of mediums and styles to both the private and corporate sectors and has exhibited at the local, national, and international levels.

"Trans4mation"
Inspired by a close family member's announcement as being transgender, which has affected me deeply, I have been motivated to start a new body of work entitled "Trans4mation" that visually portrays the trials and tribulations of gender identity.
After researching gender identity issues from transgender individuals about their personal experiences and inner most feelings relating to how both family and society accepts or rejects how they identify as transgender, I will create either 2D or 3D imagery that best portrays their personal experiences during their journey as a transgender individual. Some of the topics that may be portrayed include social acceptance or rejection by the public & family members, bullying, psychological repercussions, physiology, and the high suicide rate from this segment of our population. A few pieces have already been finished but there are many additional topics that need to be covered to properly showcase a more complete story/illustration of the transgender community. This thought-provoking body of work is intended to recognize this social diverse sector of our cultural community and enlighten.
