Francisca Sousa (Portugal,1992)
Based on notions such as soft violence, punishment and discipline, Sousa's work gives a though about the contemporary phenomenon of violence through its own approach and aesthetic treatment which softens and rounds violence's destructive vertices.
From painting to video, from building objects to performance, this combination of approaches exposes an intimate and peculiar universe where "violence is like a pinprick." The meanings contained in the images and objects are distorted, perverted, and, as spectators, we don't really know what we're seeing but there's a sense of pleasure in that.
